OUR PARTNERS

St. Francis Center

The Center on St. Helena Island, a sponsored ministry of the Sisters of Saints Cyril and Methodius. The center serves the under-served and persons with disabilities by partnering with donors, area churches, foundations, and agencies to provide food, clothing, home repairs, assistance with utility and prescription payments, and access to education. The sisters also offer spiritual support and prayer to the Center’s clients, volunteers, partners, and those seeking refuge in the Lord and the solace of their beautiful location.

Denise Bishop produces Farm Fresh Eggs. Her hens enjoy living, perching, scratching, and nesting in an all-natural way. They live in a cage-free, sunlit environment, and are fed SC grains with no antibiotics or hormones.

The Gullah Farmers’ Cooperative was founded in 2010 to establish a profitable, significant local food market for Farmer-Members who are honoring and continuing the agricultural traditions of the Gullah Community. Today, the Cooperative represents ten Gullah farm operations in the coastal counties of South Carolina: Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton, Charleston, and Jasper. Over the past four years, the Cooperative has worked towards its April 2021 launch of a processing, packing, and distribution facility on St. Helena Island, South Carolina. This facility enables farmers to build local, wholesale market outlets that have not been open to them in the past.

The LFPA Program is a cooperative agreement between the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service and the South Carolina Department of Agriculture (SCDA). SCDA was awarded funds to allow aggregators to purchase food from local, socially disadvantaged producers. Aggregators will donate the food they purchase to “partner distributors”. These distributors may include nonprofit organizations, schools, or other groups engaged in food distribution. These distributors will then distribute the food, free of charge, to underserved communities.
